Keeping an open space around the outside unit is important. You should clean the fins on your outside unit and straighten any bent fins. If they are badly damaged, you will need a professional here.
• Cleaning the evaporator coil. You can clean this yourself. This is located inside the inside air handler. You can use a soft brush to clean this coil gently.
• Check and Changing Air Filters– It is a good practice to check your air filters monthly. Dirt filters will decrease the efficiency of your unit and increase your utility bills.
• Check Your Evaporator Drain– This drain is responsible for removing condensation that can accumulate. You can make sure that it is clear of debris and is not clogged. If it is stopped up your pan could overflow and cause water damage to your home.
